Kusum Kavia

Kusum Kavia, born in Kenya and educated in the United Kingdom, embodies the entrepreneurial drive that has propelled CAI to success. As a dynamic leader, she has played a pivotal role in elevating the company from its humble beginnings to a distinguished woman-owned manufacturing enterprise. With over 30 years of history, Ms. Kavia, alongside company co-founder Mukund Kavia, has significantly broadened CAI's global footprint by supplying essential power generation systems and engineering services to various countries, notably in the Sub-Saharan Africa region and Asia. Spearheading strategic business development at CAI, Ms. Kavia has steered the company towards a notable increase in exports, now constituting over 40% of the company's sales. In 2014, Ms. Kavia and CAI were commended by former U.S. President Barack Obama for their export contributions to Africa during the U.S.-Africa Business Leaders Summit. Despite challenging times, CAI continues its growth trajectory. Recently, Ms. Kavia was honored with the 2020 Exporter of the Year Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration – Orange County-Inland Empire Region.
