Colleen Bell

Director of the California Film Commission

Ambassador (Ret.) Colleen Bell was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2019 to serve as Director of the California Film Commission, within the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development. In this role, she oversees California’s film and television portfolio, including administration of the state’s Film & Television Tax Credit Program, permitting on state properties, production and location services, and government affairs.

From 2014 to 2017, Bell served as U.S. Ambassador to Hungary, where she advanced U.S. engagement on military cooperation, law enforcement, and economic development.
